What the Big Bang Theory Means for Science, Evolution, and Christianity.

Let us begin with some simple statistics:
  • If the big bang had been even one part smaller in one hundred thousand million million, the universe would have collapsed in upon itself.
  • In order for life to exist, stars must exist. However, the odds of the conditions being correct enough for stars to form is one in a one followed by at least one thousand billion billion zeroes.
  • If the strength of gravity or of the weak force were changed by a one followed by a ten with one hundred zeroes after it, life would be impossible.
  • There are about fifty constants and quantities that must be balanced to a mathematically infinitesimal degree for any life to exist.
So what does this mean? These facts all factor into how the universe, how the earth, and life as we know it were created. As you can see, the odds of all these things coming together for even cosmological events to happen are (no pun intended) astronomical. The big bang theory is in fact one of the best ways to point to a Higher Power, an Intelligent Designer, a Creator, a Deity, or a God. Whatever title you use.
Atheism is at its core an utterly illogical and irrational belief system, wrapped in intelligent-sounding arguments based on "science" that was brought straight from the late 19th century and "proofs" that were stated in the '70's and debunked in the '80's-'90's.
If these last few statements anger, please voice your opinion below. Please keep in mind, however, I will be doing posts about the Miller experiments, macroevolutionistic theories, Charles Darwin, etc.
I have many plans for this blog, using it as a basic apologetics site and how to logically defend faith.
We choose Christianity as the true faith because of two reasons: the emotional side of things, where we get the radical changes in people's lives, and the intellectual side of things, where we can see how modern science proves how God works and who He is.
If He is the God of all mankind, He will open Himself to all who seek- even those who look in the science.

What is religion?

Religion has a broad range of meanings. It can mean anything from a deep devotion ("Football is his religion,") to a cultural system ("Iraq is an Islamic nation") to a basic worldview ("I'm a Hindu")

The way we pronounce the word "religion" comes from an Old French word, "religion" meaning, "obligation; the bonds between man and gods; devotion to the gods", which comes in turn from Latin "religio", which is usually taken to mean, "consider carefully, go over again, or choose again."

The reason I say "usually" is because the origins of the Latin are somewhat cloudy. The above definitions are the best educated guesses that scholars can come up with.

Every major theistic worldview, save Christianity, is based upon the presumption that humans need to make ourselves live better lives in order to better ourselves, our communities, our afterlives, or a combination of any of the three.

True Christianity alone is different, because the basis for Christianity is thus: "I am a fallen creature. There is nothing that I can do to save myself. So I trust God to rescue me."

The reason that I say "true Christianity" is because there is a big difference between the Christianity of the Bible and the Christianity that is normally practiced in many churches. I will be highlighting this difference in the future.

There are four different types of religions:
  • Abrahamic Religions
    • These include the Jewish Faith
    • The Christian Faith
    • The Islamic Faith
    • The Baha'i Faith
    • Samaritanism
    • Rastafarianism
    • The Druze Faith
    • As well as the different cults and sects of the aforementioned religions
  • Indian Religions
    • These include the Hinduistic Faith
    • Jainism
    • Buddhism
    • Sikhism
    • Ayyavazhi
    • Swaminarayan Faith
    • As well as any cults and sects of the aforementioned religions
  • Iranian Religions
    • Zoroastrianism
    • Mandaeism
    • Kurdish
    • As well as any cults and sects of the aforementioned religions
  • Folk Religions
    • Any cultural or tribal religions, ranging from the practices of Native Americans, Africans, Aztecs, Southern Asians, Eastern Asians, etc.
There are also the Irreligious, such as the agnostics, but once again, I will be discussing them later.
And there are the "parody religions", which include the likes of the Giant Flying Spaghetti Monster. However, I will discount these because they are not made to be legitimate sources of faith and are the products of disrespectful people who wish to mock those with more open minds.

The main idea of this introductory post was to give a brief description of what religion is.
In later posts, I will explore the ideas of Religion and Science, Religion and Violence, Religion and Medicine, Religious History, as well as explanations of different religions.

I will be doing this all from as unbiased a view as I can. I am a Christian, so I will be allowing the possibility of the supernatural in all scientific and medicinal pursuits. Miracles will not be my first resort, but it is on the table.

I wish you all the best in your spiritual and intellectual pursuits. Numbers 6:24-26
